What we track
Open spots in fixed-price NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL card breaks: pick-your-team (PYT), random-team, and related formats, as listed on breakers' own websites. We do not track Whatnot, Fanatics Live, eBay or TikTok listings.
How each spot gets a sport
- Every listing is tagged with exactly one sport: NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL. A listing we can't place is left out.
- We check sport words in the title first (football, basketball, baseball, hockey, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), then the breaker's own tags and categories.
- If there's no sport word, we use the product line: Upper Deck, Young Guns and O-Pee-Chee mean hockey; Allen & Ginter, Bowman Chrome/Draft and Topps Series/Heritage mean baseball; Hoops means basketball. Product lines used in several sports (Topps Chrome, Prizm, Select, Donruss) need a sport word.
- For pick-your-team listings, we count which league the team options belong to. A list of 8 or more teams from one league settles it.
- Team names shared across leagues are matched only inside the listing's sport. For example, Kings means Sacramento in the NBA and Los Angeles in the NHL. Rangers means Texas in MLB and New York in the NHL. Panthers, Cardinals, Giants and Jets work the same way. Every team page has a unique address such as
/nhl/los-angeles-kings. - WNBA, college (Bowman University, NCAA), soccer, racing, wrestling and non-sport listings are not counted under the four leagues.
What counts as an open spot
A listing that is in stock, has a price of at least $3, does not show 0 spots left, and was seen on the breaker's site within the last 2 hours. Sold-out and stale listings are excluded from counts, lowest and median.
How numbers are computed
- Lowest price: the minimum listed price among open spots in the group (sport, team, product line or breaker).
- Median price: the middle listed price among those same spots. Prices are the breaker's listed price per spot, before shipping and tax.
- Open spots: the number of open spot rows. A breaker's single multi-team break contributes one row per open team.
- Weekly price index: each crawl updates the current ISO week's median, lowest and open-spot count; the last crawl of the week is kept. History begins when the site launched and is not backfilled.
Limits
We currently track 43 breakers (19 with open spots right now); this updates with every crawl. Coverage is limited to breakers with crawlable own-sites. Spot prices vary with product and break size, so medians mix different products; treat them as market context, not a valuation of cards. Always confirm price and availability on the breaker's page. Stash or Pass does not run breaks or process payments.
Corrections
If a listing looks wrong, check the breaker's page first; data refreshes every 15 minutes.
